Library

The purpose of Sheng Kung library is to help every SK student and staff to gain new knowledge, skills for learning through personal development that they will take what they have learned throughout their lives.

Chronological History of the School Library

1914 Sheng Kung was established in Tianjin, China and the school library had a prominent function.

1964 The school moved to Tainan, Taiwan. The school library began its slow and steady development. It was completely empty and it was a gradual process of procuring materials and books.

1983 Audiovisual classrooms and libraries were built, however the location of the first library building was not very conducive for teachers and students to use.

1994 Sr. Li Ya-Juan, the former principal, convinced and believed on the importance of having a high school library, decided to build the new library building and it was completed on December 8th of that year, named Mei-Dayuan.

1995 The library’s automatic circulation operation began and the school-wide education on library's utilization was implemented.

1996 Added academic networks and multimedia computers.

2000 The library was moved to the first floor of Xuan-Han Pavilion due to the 921 earthquake.

2015 Due to the campus planning and revitalization of old buildings, the library was moved to Ke-Bin Hall, which was officially opened in February.

We ensure that students, teachers, administrators, and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

This mission is accomplished by:

  • Providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats.

  • Providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas

  • Collaborating with other educators to plan, design, teach, and evaluate information literacy learning experiences to meet the needs of all students

  • Demonstrating effective leadership strategies in the administration of the program and in making connections to the broader learning community.
